Financial Aid

Neumann Goretti is committed to making our educational experience accessible to all families. Through the generosity of our alumni and friends, we are able to offer need-based financial assistance to offset a portion of tuition to those who qualify. We strongly encourage every family to apply for financial aid. Scholarship recipients must complete a Financial Aid application. Financial aid requests have no impact on admissions decisions. Saints Neumann Goretti Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are proud to offer merit-based scholarships to students applying to the 9th grade.

Academic Merit Scholarships

Academic Merit Scholarships are offered to 9th grade applicants based on their Entrance Exam scores and 7th grade GPAs. We review applications on a rolling basis. Priority for these awards will be given to students who take their Entrance Exam and submit their 7th grade report cards by November 30th. Students do not need to complete an additional application in order to be considered for these scholarships.

Scholarships range from 15 – 100% of base tuition* and are directly tied to exam scores and GPA. Academic Merit Scholarships are renewable each year so long as students maintain their grades, conduct, and attendance.  Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail within two weeks of their Entrance Exam (pending submission of their final 7th grade report cards).

*Saints Neumann Goretti’s tuition is comprised of base tuition and a school fee. All families are required to pay the school fee. Scholarships may not be used to cover the school fee.

Saints Neumann Goretti Leadership Grant

The Saints Neumann Goretti Leadership Grant recognizes four 9th grade applicants who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to their community. Recipients will receive a $2500 grant, renewable each year so long as students maintain their GPA, conduct, school service, and attendance. Applicants should be prepared to show a record of service to their school or community and concrete examples of their leadership. To apply for this grant:

  • Complete an application to Saints Neumann Goretti (including online application, Entrance Exam, and submission of 7th grade final report card).
  • Complete the Saints Neumann Goretti Leadership Grant Application.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a principal or 7th or 8th grade teacher who can speak to your leadership and/or community service. Letters of recommendation should be submitted directly from the letter writer to Molly Edwards, Director of Enrollment Management, via mail or email: 1736 S. 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148 or

The application deadline is November 30, 2018.Recipients will be notified by mail no later than December 21, 2018.

External Scholarships
Saints Neumann Goretti encourages families to apply for scholarships from external organizations and funds. Please note that we do not fund or determine the scholarships listed below, so please contact the organizations directly with any questions. We update this list periodically as we learn of new scholarships, so check back often!

The Children’s Educational Opportunity Fund

Children Educational Opportunity Fund offers scholarships to children who are enrolled in Public School and wish to transfer into a private school (such as SS. Neumann Goretti).

Daniel Sweeney Memorial Scholarship

Daniel Sweeney was a lifelong resident of the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia. He attended Saint Cecilia’s grade school and Bishop McDevitt high school. In July, 2006, shortly after high school, he entered the Philadelphia Fire Department. On Easter Monday, April 9, 2012, Daniel and his company, Ladder 10, were battling a huge 5-alarm warehouse fire in Philadelphia’s Kensington section. While inside an adjacent furniture store a wall collapsed from the warehouse onto Daniel and his lieutenant, Robert Neary, killing them.
The scholarships are awarded each year to students who are, or will be attending a Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School. It is open to all students regardless of religion, race or ethnicity. The amount of scholarships awarded is based on the previous year’s fund raising activities and donations.

Ellis Grant

The Ellis Grant offers tuition assistance to girls who reside in Philadelphia, live in a household where one or both parents are absent, mentally or physically impaired, and have grades of C or better in major subjects.

Family Choice Scholarship

The Family Choice Scholarship organization awards scholarships ranging from $300-$1000/year to students attending private schools in the state of Pennsylvania.

Howley Scholarship

The Howley Family Foundation Scholarship awards $3,200 annually to each recipient. The recipient must carry a 3.0 (85 or >) average and be involved in a minimum of one extra-curricular activity. Recipients will be determined by their application and their financial need based on their FACTS Grant and Aid application.

John T. Mitchell Trust Scholarship

The John T. Mitchell Memorial Trust Scholarship supports Catholic African American students with exceptional academic ability who are in need of financial assistance. Scholarship(s) are awarded annually based upon the determination of the selection committee. Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a B average, be committed to community service, and demonstrate financial need.

This $2,500 grant is awarded to one student in the Class of 2023 in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In order to be considered, students must meet the following criteria:

  • African American Roman Catholic.
  • Registered and active at a parish within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
  • Academic Excellence – with at least a cumulative “B” average – or the numerical equivalent thereof – at the time of the scholarship award.
  • Financial Need – as determined by a completed FACTS application

Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Award

The Josephine C. Connelly Achievement Award is a four-year tuition grant presented to 8th grade students currently attending Philadelphia parish or regional Catholic elementary schools who best demonstrate the value of a Catholic education by striving to achieve their full academic potential. The four-year grant covers 40% of the student’s tuition. An annual review by the high school president determines renewal of the Connelly Foundation’s yearly commitment to each student. Maguire Scholarship

The Maguire Foundation, in partnership with the Faith in the Future Foundation, awards $3,000 per-year scholarships to students at Ss. Neumann Goretti each year. The scholarship is renewable for each of the four years of high school, given that the Maguire Scholar maintains certain standards. Maguire Scholarship applicants must have a demonstrated financial need, exceptional academic records, and a commitment to community service.

Norphans Grant
The Alumni of Northeast Catholic High School (Philadelphia, PA), the Norphan, provides $500 grants to children of North alums. Submit this application to the Neumann Goretti Admissions Office. You must complete a FACTS Financial Aid application to be considered for this grant.

Northeast Catholic Alumni Grants

The Northeast Catholic Alumni Memorial Fund provides grants to children or grandchildren of dues paying members of the Alumni Association. The grants are awarded to applicants who meet minimum academic and financial need requirements. The association awards five grants of $15,000 and five of $10,000.They are payable in equal semi-annual installments over four years providing the applicant meets minimum academic standards.

Sean P. Miller Scholarship Fund

Purpose: To provide scholarships to students who display the character and spirit that embodies the teachings of the Catholic Education. This scholarship is in memory of Sean P. Miler who graduated from Northeast Catholic High School Class of 1998.

Criteria: The applicant must be a student attending Catholic High School and displays the character and spirit needed to succeed in a Catholic High School.

St. Thomas More Alumni Scholarship

The St. Thomas More Alumni Scholarship provides tuition assistance to students who are related to or recommended by a St. Thomas More alumnus. To be considered for this award, students must be active in school, sports, or church activities, have a strong academic record, and participate in community service.
