Neumann Goretti art students received the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Auguste Rodin Award for excellence in carved, sculpted and painted imagery of personal memorials. Their “Icons & Memorials” are on Exhibition at the PMA Art Futures annex student exhibition space, 2001 Market Street (2 Commerce Square) through May 17. Senior Joseph Mastrobuoni received the award on behalf of SNG, and thanked the Art Futures Program, Delphi Foundation and Patriarch Foundation for this opportunity to explore means of artistic expression. Students, guided by artist-in-residence Melissa Joseph and art teacher Mary Barrett have been working all year on icons and memorial sculptures to commemorate someone who has had a significant impact on their life.
