Student Council is a leadership responsibility within the school community. The representatives are to act as the voice of their students and work to enhance the high school experience. Some duties include: planning school social events, creating, managing, and distributing school t-shirt sales, working school fundraisers, and representing the school in prideful manner.
Neumann Goretti Student Council is comprised of student leaders who represent their fellow students and school. Throughout the year, these Student Council members contribute positively to their school and community in myriad ways. Leadership skills and training are also a significant part of the council, who have participated in leadership seminars at Neumann University and Archdiocesan-wide Student Council seminars.
The Student Council has a highly active and functional role. Its purpose is not to govern the students; rather, they serve as a liaison between the student body and the administration. Additionally, the Council seeks to foster and strengthen school spirit and pride.
Student Council members are elected by the student body to serve as their official representatives to the administration and the faculty. Nominations and elections are held in the Spring. The term of office is one year, and members in good standing are eligible for re-election. Council members assist with the many events, such as Freshman Orientation, College Fair, Roster Tour Night, Columbus Day Parade, Ring Mass, Ring Dance, Pictures with Santa, Sophomore Hop, Junior Prom, Senior Prom, Blood Drive, Catholic Schools Week, dances, and various social and alumni affairs.
In addition to officer positions, Homeroom Representatives are elected each year in September. Select seniors are appointed as Freshman mentors to assist with the Freshman Orientation program.
