The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass- Where Catholics gather, the Mass follows. This is true globally and in our school.
– At Ss. John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School, we celebrate all school Mass once a month. On occasion, there will be additional Masses during the month. Learn more about the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass here.
– A 7:00 AM Mass is offered in the First Floor Chapel each Wednesday the school is in session.
– A Ring Mass is celebrated early in the evening of the first quarter to bless and distribute school rings to the seniors.
– A Baccalaureate Mass is presented in the evening of the day before the Graduation Ceremonies.
– Masses during the school day are offered to recognize significant makers during the year: Opening of the School Year, Thanksgiving, Advent-Christmas, Lent-Easter, Catholic Schools Week and Conclusion of the school year.The student body is divided into small gatherings to provide a sense of prayerful intimacy.
– At the discretion of the administration, Mass is offered during specific months to bring as sense of God’s presence during the ordinary times of our lives.
Monthly Adoration-
Each month, during Theology classes students have the opportunity to pray and meditate in Adoration. Learn more about Adoration here.
Sacrament of Reconciliation, commonly known as Confession, is celebrated twice as an entire school body during the school year: Advent and Lent. Weekly Confession is available on Wednesdays during the student’s lunch period. Additional appointments can be made by request. Learn more about the Sacrament of Reconciliation here.
Morning Prayer– Each school day, we pray at the start of the day to give a spiritual focus to the actives and studies of the day. A selection from the Sacred Scriptures, based on the daily Mass readings, is proclaimed. A prayer aligned with the reading, the memorial or feast of the day’s saint is offered. We conclude with our Direction of Intention:
My God, I give you this day. I offer you now, all the good that I shall do, and I promise
to accept for love of you, all the difficulty that I shall meet. Help me to conduct myself
during this day in a manner pleasing to you.
Prayer Services– Periodically, the students are gathered to participate in a Prayer Service, which is a non-Sacramental opportunity is give praise, offer thanksgiving and make petition to God. The themes are based on Sacred Scripture.
Ashes are distributed to the students, faculty and staff on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, each year.
Other Daily Prayer- As a Catholic School, we believe that every part of our is offered up to the Lord in prayer. Throughout our day, we have opportunities to exemplify this. Teachers will lead students through prayer in each academic course. Students will pray before their Lunch meal. There is an end of day prayer that all students participate in.
