NextHappy Monday Saints! To start our week off right, our Campus Minister, Father James Dalton, will share a story of a Saint, along with a reflection to help us consider how we can learn from their examples. ⠀ ⠀ Our school bears the name of a young Italian virgin-martyr, St. Maria Goretti. St. Maria Goretti was born to a farming family. When her father died when she was nine, Maria took over household duties (cooking, sewing, cleaning) while her mother, brothers, and sister worked in the fields. ⠀ ⠀ The family had to share a house with another family, the Serenellis. One afternoon when St. Maria was twelve, Alessandro, the Serenellis’ twenty-year-old son, made sexual advances to her. When she refused to submit to him, Alessandro stabbed her fourteen times. Maria was taken to the hospital, where she died forgiving him. He was arrested, convicted, and jailed. During imprisonment, he repented. Maria was beatified in 1947, and canonized in 1950. ⠀ ⠀ You can learn more about Saint Maria Goretti Here: https://loom.ly/T1T18pM ⠀ ⠀ Saint Maria Goretti, pray for us.
