A Historic South Philly Tradition Continues in 2022!
A pandemic couldn’t stop it! Scheduling conflicts wouldn’t derail it! 87 years after it started, nothing could keep it from happening!
The 2022 Thanksgiving holiday will again be one to remember as Ss. Neumann Goretti will be playing Southern in the annual Thanksgiving Day Football Game. This long-standing tradition of Turkey & Touchdowns is the centerpiece of a cornucopia of planned events with the theme:

There will be highlight reel activities involving SNG students, faculty, parents, community members and alumni/ae from Southeast Catholic, Bishop Neumann, St. John Neumann, St. Maria Goretti & Ss. Neumann Goretti High School.

In 2020, this online effort raised over $34,000 for tuition assistance. Last year, your generosity helped generate $44,000. Our target is to raise $50,000 with increased awareness and promotion, again centered around this week of activities. Our theme this year will be #Donate88toNG, building on the support from the #Donate86toNG and #Donate87toNG themes the past 2 years, and honoring the 88 years of Catholic education in South Philadelphia.
This annual event, sponsored by the Millay Club, the alumni association of Ss. Neumann Goretti, will have Mass and breakfast at Penn’s Landing Caterers in South Philadelphia. Alumni are encouraged to attend this special day of celebration, where a check representing the Millay Club’s fundraising efforts will be presented to SNG’s president, by Millay Club president Ralph Grasso, ’71.

The game will be held at 10:00 AM at the Supersite at 10th and Bigler Streets in South Philadelphia. A special thanks to Head Football Coach Albie Crosby and his staff for maintaining our relationship with Southern to enable them to participate in this traditional Thanksgiving game!
At the game, we'll have a Ss. Neumann Goretti Hospitality Tent behind the home bleachers, featuring a Basket Raffle for some wonderful prizes, a photo booth opportunity to capture the moment in front of our SNG background with our school mascot, Duke, as well as information on SNG’s current and future plans. Before and during the game we'll be selling 50/50 tickets, with one person winning half the take when we draw the winner at the conclusion of the 3rd quarter of the football game!

Neumann Goretti invites all alumni who played in this traditional Thanksgiving game over the years, along with all of our cheerleaders who kept up the school's spirit for those games, to attend and be recognized at halftime.
