Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program, developed by the College Board, provides high school students with the opportunity to take college-level courses and earn college credit based on their performance on AP exams. These courses are designed to challenge students academically, enhance critical thinking skills, and prepare them for higher education.

AP Courses Offered at Ss. Neumann Goretti
Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School offers a variety of AP courses, both in-class and through online partnerships. The AP courses available include:

  • AP Biology
  • AP Calculus AB & BC
  • AP English Language and Composition
  • AP English Literature and Composition
  • AP Environmental Science
  • AP Macroeconomics & Microeconomics
  • AP Psychology
  • AP Statistics
  • AP Studio Art
  • AP US History
  • AP US Government and Politics

*Additional AP courses may be made available through online learning platforms.

For your consideration:

  • AP Exams: Students enrolled in AP courses are required to take the AP exam in May. The exam fee is approximately $100.
  • Academic Rigor: AP courses demand strong motivation, independent study, and commitment to outside reading, research, and writing.
  • Attendance & Responsibility: Students must attend class regularly and take responsibility for missed work.
  • Commitment: Once enrolled, students cannot drop the course, even if they struggle academically.
  • College Credit: AP courses may lead to college credit, depending on the student’s exam performance and the policies of their prospective colleges.
