It’s #TeacherTuesday, where each week we spotlight a member of our outstanding faculty and staff! Today’s spotlight shines on Ms. Hennewinkel from our Guidance Department. Ms. Hennewinkel received her Masters in K-12 School Counseling & Guidance from NYU and her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Delaware. She joined the SNG family in the Fall of 2018 and has since been a strong advocate for the needs of individual students. Ms. Hennewinkel goes above and beyond to make sure our students have the tools they need to succeed academically and emotionally. Recently, she’s taken on guidance department responsibilities that impact the entire school, including assisting our Class of 2021 with the college application process and their plans for post-graduation – which we will be sharing online in the coming months! We are grateful for Ms. Hennewinkel’s commitment to our students! 💬 We asked Ms. Hennewinkel, “What is the best advice you have ever received?” 👩‍🏫 She told us “When I was a senior in high school, my supervisor at work would always talk to me about life and give me good advice. The one quote that really stuck with me was “Picture your life in 5 years. Will this still matter? If not, it isn’t worth spending your time and energy worrying.” It took me some time to realize the value of that advice. Looking back now, she was absolutely right. I can’t even remember most of what I spent hours being anxious about back then. This changed my perspective, helped me manage strong emotions, and is now a tool I use in my counseling career.” 💬 We also asked Ms. Hennewinkel, “What is a hobby of yours?” 👩‍🏫 She told us “I was a USAG gymnast for 15 years and coached competitive gymnastics for 10 years prior to working at Neumann Goretti. Now I help out Ms. Joyner as her Assistant Volleyball Coach :)”
