Five Tips to Embrace the Spirit of the Season and Start the New Year Right.
By: Kellsey Black
“ Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light.” – Judy Garland.
Do you recall hearing this song on the radio, in a Christmas movie, or while shopping at the mall? If you answered yes, you might recognize the next lyric: “Next year, let all our troubles be out of sight.” Embrace this season as the song suggests—let go of your troubles and lighten your heart. Free yourself from anything that causes stress or worry, and instead, be filled with the warmth of the Christmas spirit.
- Be Mindful of What You Eat
With the holiday season approaching, there is one thing that all of us and Santa Claus look forward to, and that is food. However, we must remember to stay mindful of how much food and desserts we are stuffing down our throats. No matter what your reason is, we should strive to be conscious of what we put on our plates and fill in our cups. Try to eat smaller portions of food, and replace your juice or soda with a glass of water before you have your dessert.
- Set The Phone Aside
How often are you on the phone for hours while your family and friends are surrounded by you for the holidays? We all cherish our phones, but we must also prioritize our family and friends. Our phones will always be there but precious memories with our loved ones won’t. So let’s set the phones aside for a couple of hours and dwell in the warm atmosphere of love and joy with our family and friends.
- Make Use of Your Time
We all have our wish lists ready for Santa before he arrives, but what about our to-do lists? Well, this is the perfect time to make use of to complete those tasks. Let’s use this time wisely to organize our rooms or finish other duties on our lists before we go back to work. How about we bring in this new year successfully knowing our tasks are complete before we’re overloaded with work after our break?
- Start Something Fresh or New
When the sunset rises on January 1, we would have entered into another blessed new year. On account of this, let’s enter 2025 with a brand new project or hobby! Choose something you would like to start your year with that you can dedicate your time to, and stay consistent. Maybe you would like to begin painting, scrapbooking, or blogging!
- Sit Back & Relax
The last tip I would take away is to sit back and relax. Turn on that speaker, or put on that record and dance your heart away if that’s how you like to relax. Go watch your favorite show or movie as you recline on your couch. It is well deserved for all the hard work you’ve been putting in over these months.
