Christian Service Hours Requirement

Students of Ss. John Neumann and Maria Goretti High School are required to complete 10 Christian Service hours during each year they are students at Neumann- Goretti High School. As disciples of Jesus, we are invited to imitate God’s sacrificial love and recognize the face of Christ in “the least of our brothers and sisters” (Mt. 25:40). Christian Service is one concrete way in which we put our faith into action. Students who fail to complete 10 hours of service per school may not receive their Q4 Report Cards and/or may not be able to receive their final transcripts. Throughout the year, there will be short check ins with students to ensure they are successful in their completion.

  • Service Hours are due on May 1st.
  •  A minimum of 2 Service Hours must fall within the Corporal Works of Mercy. The Corporal Works of Mercy are as follows: feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned, bury the dead. Examples of service inspired by the Corporal Works of Mercy are as follows: volunteer at a food pantry, a food kitchen, visit and spend time with the residents in a nursing home, assisting with a clothing drive, etc. The remaining 8 hours can be spent doing other service in the community: assisting a neighbor in cleaning their yard, babysitting (cannot be an immediate family member), assisting a coach with prep work or post event work, volunteering at the local park on clean up days, etc.
  • Students cannot earn more than 2 hours from assisting a faculty member, unless discussed prior with the Director of School Ministry.
  • There will be opportunities throughout the school year to earn service hours, however the opportunities will not be enough to cover all 10 hours. Please be proactive in completing these hours.
  • Please log hours using MobileServe primarily. Students can log in using their  School issued Google Account. New and transferring students, please visit Ms. Graves to confirm entry into the site. Additionally, Ms. Graves has a service hour sheet if the student wishes to log hours that way. These links will be made easily accessible and each student will be informed of this process. ALL HOURS ARE DUE BY MAY 1ST.
