On April 9, 2019, Ss. Neumann Goretti High School hosted its third annual fundraising event for Saints’ Dance Marathon, formerly known as Mini Thon. This program is coordinated by Mrs. Mutto, but is mostly led by student representatives, such as Mia Messina, Lea Procopio, and Angelina Davis. In the past two years of this program, Saints’ Dance Marathon has partnered up with Penn State’s THON and the Four Diamonds organization to raise money for pediatric cancer treatment. This year, Saints’ Dance Marathon is donating to Catholic Relief Services to help raise money for schools that specialize in teaching those with hearing, vision, and cognitive impairments. These charity events are a year long endeavor composed of many small fundraisers, which is then concluded with a 6 hour Dance-A-Thon.
Last year Saints’ Dance Marathon raised almost $17,000, but due to a late start they aimed for a more modest goal of $5,000. At the end of the Dance-A-Thon, a group of students from Saints’ Dance Marathon revealed that the whole school raised a total of $5,727 within a month’s time. The Saints’ Dance Marathon has become an essential program in Ss. Neumann Goretti HS due to it being the perfect to exemplify the student body’s charitable nature.
