Neumann Goretti has been blessed with welcoming Ms. Mack to our school family this year. When asked why Neumann Goretti was the best fit for her, she told us she graduated in 1999 when it was just Saint Maria Goretti. “I have always wanted to teach just theology, and the position became available, so I wanted to take the challenge and teach highschoolers. I am so happy I’m here, I love it.” Teaching theology has always motivated Ms. Mack to keep going. “When I graduated Maria Goretti, I went to Holy Family, and I always wanted to take theology courses. I was born and raised Catholic and made all my sacraments. I wanted to share my faith with my students and spread the word of God, which I do think I do everyday. Even if I just touch a few students as far as their faith, that’s a good thing.” If Ms. Mack was not a teacher, she would like to be involved in law enforcement, such as the FBI. “Even though that was always an interest of mine as well, I knew I was meant to be a teacher.”
Ms. Mack always makes sure to do a bunch of creative yet educational projects with her students. “My favorite lesson I did so far is when we made booklets for the second graders at St. Monicas. It was all different theology topics that can teach them from the older kids’ perspectives.” Ms. Mack also learns lessons throughout her teaching career. “The best lesson I learned while being a teacher is not to sweat the small things. Just let things happen the way they are. My motto for this year is “I just leave it in God’s hands.” God has a plan for us and we just have to let it happen.” Ms. Mack makes it a priority to form bonds with her students to make them feel comfortable in her class. “It is important because I am a parent as well as a teacher, so I try to consider any issues they have going on in their daily lives and always try to be a good listener and not quick to holler at them and try to understand where they are coming from.” That being said, Ms. Mack loves all of her students and treats everyone exactly how a teacher should. “I love how they all come from different backgrounds and I love all their great ideas that they bring to the classroom. They make me so happy.” Ms. Mack is always willing to give advice to anyone who wants to be a teacher and wouldn’t trade her job for the world.
